Referring to the title of the text what do you think the article is about?

That her soccer team might be going for a red team

Why do Saturday’s start early for Alice?

cause Alice plays football with her team and her dad likes to get to the grounds

early so they can prepare for the game

What does Alice enjoy being a part of, for what reason do you believe she enjoys this?

Alice enjoys being apart of the backline cause When she is at the back she can 

help the goalie out and can control the ball when it comes to her

What does the goal weigh? What do you think Ashleigh is doing when she says this. 

Think about if the goal were to literally weigh this, would it be even possible for 

Ashleigh to lift it?

The goal weighs a ton, she is probably very tired, it probably is not possible

How do you think the girls are feeling prior to their game? Put yourself in their shoes,

how would you feeling/ how do you feel before playing a netball or rugby game?

I think that they are feeling pumped up for the game cause they got there early and

already had a warm up and set up the field

“Jessica jumps high and deflects the ball” what does this mean?

I might mean that when she jumps up she hits the ball and it and she hits

the ball away

What are the girls doing prior to their game starting? Refer to the images at the top of page 6. 

For what reason are they doing this?   They are setting up the field for the game and when

they finished that they start to warm up they they practice dodging the ball in all

directions and then they start doing some goal kicks.

Frank urges the girls to not give up, what does it mean when you urge someone to do something? Frank is forcing them not to give up and keep trying, keep going to the end     

In most sports games there is always a referee, what is the role of the referee? Why is a

referee so important?   You need a referee to control the game, stop some fights

from happening and call the game off now , he is like the boss of the game

What are three very important characters a person needs to have to be part of a sports team.

You need a coach to coach you, some players so that you have people to play your

sports with and a manager to manage out your team

Who is Cara Telea, state five facts about her.

She is team captain,

From reading the text, do you think soccer is a difficult game to play? Why/why not.

I think that soccer is a difficult game to play if you are goalie you need to try to make 

sure the ball does not get into the goal, and you need to know how to control the

ball while you are dribbling the ball and have a good kick when you kick for a goal

Why do you think soccer is more popular in some countries instead of some others?

soccer is popular because some countries have soccer teams that are involved in 

soccer and their soccer team that represents that country might have went to the 

grand finals and might have took out the whole competition

Who is a famous soccer player, state five facts about them.

Alex morgan is a famous soccer player and she is a girl

1) she was the youngest women of the U.S women's national during the 2011 

FIFA women world cup

2) Morgan went to the university of California at Berkeley

3) She won a gold medal with the U.S olympic women's soccer team in 2012

4) Alex was a multisport athlete growing up

5) When she was 14 years old she attended Diamond bar high school

From reading the text we know that different soccer players have different positions, 

what do you think would be the most difficult position to play and why?

Goalie because you would have to try to deflect the ball from going into the goal so the 
other team does not get a goal and you would have to get hit alot and that might
be pretty sore
