Netball
Netball is a fast-paced game.This game is all about teamwork you work as a
team to win. Netball is popular most in New Zealand, Australia and the United
Kingdom. There are different sorts of teams there are women's teams, mens teams,
mixed teams and also children's team’s which are divided into divisions.
Netball is a game played with 7 players each of them have a position to play.
The positions are Goal shooter, Goal attack, Goal defence, Goalkeeper, Wing attack,
Wing defence and last centre. Each have a certain job to do in netball
These are all the attackers
Goal shooter (GS)
The goal shooter, stays in the opposing teams goal circle, trying to get the ball to
shoot into the netball hoop they will try get away from the goal defenders.
They are only allowed in the opposing teams goal area and goal circle
Goal attack (GA)
The goal attack, goes on attack and either pass of the ball into the goal circle to
the shooter , also can shoot the ball into the hoop
Wing Attack (WA)
Wing attack helps with getting the ball to the goal and passing it to the shooters.
At the start of the game they are placed at the top of their teams goal third.
They face the centre and are the ones that try to get the ball to the shooters.
The wing attack is only allowed in 2 thirds of the court the opposition's third and
goal third but not in the goal circle
Centre (C)
(The centre is a defender and a attacker)
The centre is the person that starts the game when its their teams
turn to throw the ball. The centre stands in the small circle in the middle
of the netball court. Centre is allowed anywhere on the netball court just not in the
goalies circle.
These are the all the defenders
Goal keeper (GK)
The goalkeeper, defends their goal. They keep the goal shooter from getting the
ball and from trying not to let the goal shooter from shooting the ball. They are only
allowed in their goal third and their goal circle.
Goal Defender (GD)
The goal defender, defence their goal area. They are trying to avoid the opposite
team from getting the ball into the goal circle. They are on defence, to assure the
opposite team’s shooter can’t get a shot at the goal. They are allowed in the centre
third their goal third and goal.
Wing Defence (WD)
Wing defence is the goal third they keep the ball from entering their goal third.
They are only allowed in the centre third their goal third but not the circle.
